All of my nonfiction pieces are either professional articles, commentaries, or memoirs such as "The Road Back." Even though there is much room for creativity in nonfiction, I feel more at home in fiction. (A few additional articles are in  About Writing.) 

Nonetheless, I use nonfiction to focus in close on a single subject. Sometimes the real can seem surreal and carries a message. I try to have all nonfiction (and fiction) carry a message.  The real work of the writer is to bring out the message so that it is remembered.
