Visual ArtsIs something ART, just because someone made it? Or says it is? Perhaps it's true that "art is in the eye of the beholder." Why else would people buy a canvas of "Green Line on Blue Paint" or other such renderings? On the other hand, the works of numerous artists, in many aspects of art, are universally acknowledged to be ART. No one will ever pay me a million dollars for one of my creations, but I like some of the renditions and from Captured Spider Webs, Photograms, Photographs, and Diverse Endeavors, I've sold a number. That's enough validation for me. The real reward is in the doing. Imagining the end result and creating the finished product is a different venue than my writing, and I enjoy the diversity and possibilities within both the visual arts and the written arts. |
